Montana Fishing Reports ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
1. Account & Subscription Information
- Premium Subscription: When you purchase a Premium subscription, we collect transaction information through RevenueCat (our payment processor). We do not store your payment card details.
- Device Identifier: We collect a unique device identifier to manage free usage limits and synchronize your Premium status across app reinstalls.
2. Location Data
- Precise Location: With your permission, we collect your precise location to:
- Show your position on the map
- Display nearby fishing rivers and access points
- Calculate distances to river access points
- Tag catch locations in your Fishing Log
- You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.
3. Camera & Photos
- Camera Access: With your permission, we access your camera to take photos of catches for your Fishing Log.
- Photo Library: We access your photo library to select existing photos for your fishing log entries.
- Storage: All photos are stored locally on your device unless you choose to share them via Brag Cards or social media.
4. User-Generated Content
- Fishing Log: If you use the Fishing Log feature, your catch data (including photos, location, fish type, size, and notes) is stored locally on your device unless you choose to share it.
- Favorites: Your favorited rivers are stored locally and synced with your device identifier.
5. Social Media Sharing
- Share Feature: When you use our Brag Card or social sharing features, you control what content is shared. We do not post to social media on your behalf.
- Third-Party Sharing: Sharing to social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) is handled by those platforms' respective apps and subject to their privacy policies.
- Brag Cards: Images created for sharing are generated locally on your device. We do not store or have access to your shared content.
6. Push Notifications
- Notification Preferences: If you enable notifications (Premium feature), we collect:
- Your push notification token
- Subscribed rivers for alerts
- Alert preferences (hatch alerts, flow alerts, daily briefing)
- You can manage or disable notifications anytime in Settings.
7. Analytics & Diagnostics
- Usage Analytics: We collect anonymous data about which rivers and features are viewed, app performance, and load times.
- Crash Logs: We collect crash reports and error logs to fix bugs and improve stability.
- Advertising: Free users see ads served by Google Mobile Ads. See "Third-Party Services" below.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Name, email address, or contact information (unless you contact us for support)
- Phone number or physical address
- Contacts from your phone
- Browsing or search history
- Financial information (handled by Apple/Google)
- Precise location history (only stored when you explicitly tag a catch)
- Social media login credentials

Data Storage & Security
- Local Storage: Most data (fishing logs, favorites, cached river data, Brag Cards) is stored locally on your device.
- Cloud Storage: Subscription status and notification preferences are stored securely in the cloud.
- Encryption: All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
- No Sale: We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- Data Retention: We retain usage analytics for 12 months, then anonymize or delete.

Location Access

Notifications

Data Export
Users can export fishing log data through the app (feature available in Settings)
Data Deletion
To request deletion of your account data:
- Email: Info@hatchcast.app
- Include your device ID (found in Settings → About)
- We process requests within 30 days
Advertising Opt-Out
- Free users can limit ad tracking in device Settings → Privacy → Tracking
- Upgrade to Premium to remove all ads
Children's Privacy
Montana Fishing Reports is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as we add new features. Changes will be:
- Posted in the app (Settings → Privacy Policy)
- Updated with a new effective date
- Notified via in-app message for significant changes
